Built Up Letters for Cubitts Opticians

Creating bespoke signage for new London-born hipster specs brand, Cubitts.

Cubitts is an independent British handmade spectacles company based in King’s Cross, London.

Launched in 2013, Cubitts has quickly made waves, being awarded The Guardian’s ‘Start-Up of The Year’ in 2014 and quickly well-loved by London’s creative community.

A year after launching online, in November 2014 Cubitts opened their first store in Soho, London. In light of this, they approached us to create some signage that met the exceptionally high standard they were looking for.

A unique and fresh approach to branding

To give you a quick insight into Cubitts’ innovative branding standards, Cubitts designs all of its stores in light of the history of its local area. In the words of Cubitts’ founder, Tom Broughton: “What’s amazing about London is that it is…every corner has it’s own story to tell, and we always try to take references from the locality and incorporate them into the store….Our most recent is on Jermyn Street, where we’ve tried to evoke the feel of a traditional atelier.”

Creating bespoke signage for a unique shop front

In light of this, JFK worked with both Cubitts’ and its young and exciting brand consultancy, Two Times Elliot, to design and install brushed brass 3D lettering signage. We’re keeping a keen eye on this hot start up as it goes from strength to strength.
