Creating the exterior signage for exclusive historical central London hotel
The Stafford London is a 5-star boutique hotel in St James’s, London. Known for its classic Britishness atmosphere, it is one of the most historical hotels in London. It is also one of the handful of hotels in London to achieve 5 AA Red Star status.
As well as having 107 uniquely designed rooms, The Stafford boasts a 380 year old wine cellar, an American Bar, museum, a private cobbled courtyard and British restaurant, The Game Bird.
A new refurbishment, means new exterior signage
In 2017, in a landmark refurbishment project, The Stafford completed the renovation of their Grade-II listed Carriage House suites, Guv’nor’s Suite, cocktail bar and restaurant. This was designed by New York-based interior design company Champalimaud Design.
To finish off the refurb, The Stafford’s management team contacted JFK to design and install its refurbished area’s exterior signage – specifically, general branding and way finding plaques. As this had been a significant investment for The Stafford, the brief was for the signage to be of exceptional quality, on-brand and to fit in with the character of the building.
Simple, traditional and elegant brass plaques
In light of this, we worked closely with The Stafford and it’s branding agency to produce a suite of signs that fitted the brief. Specifically, we created a series of small etched brass plaques. These fitted in neatly and discretely with the The Stafford’s historical buildings.
