Lettering & Fascias for St Ermins Hotel

Crafting brass flat cut letter signage for a restored British gem

St. Ermin’s is a four-star luxury hotel tucked away in a unique horseshoe shaped Grade II listed mansion in St. James Park. It has a rich British history, being the British intelligence service’s meeting place of choice during World War II.

After years of neglect, St Ermin’s was given the love it deserves after being bought by the American real estate company Amerimar Enterprises in 2010, and refurbished for £30 million.

Bold signage required for a grand hotel entrance

Our brief from the St Ermin’s management team was to provide the signage for the refurbished hotel. As Amerimar Enterprises had hired leading Los Angeles-based interior designer, Dayna Lee, to design the refurbishment, we worked to ensure the signage matched her modern cosmopolitan twist on its grand Victorian Architecture. The most important sign we were briefed was the hotel’s front exterior. As the hotel’s grand forecourt had just been landscaped gardened, as well as an overhanging balcony courtyard, this sign needed to have wow factor.

Brass flat cutter lettering: the material of choice to communicate elegant heritage

In light of this, we designed, crafted and installed a series of brass, flat cut lettering signs for St Ermin’s. We also delivered the St Ermin’s team’s requirement for a grand and bold entrance sign for the hotel, and they were pleased with the result.
